Sony 6500 Netflix

Just got a Sony 6500 Blu-ray player mainly for its Blu-ray disc playing ability.

However, I was pleasantly surprised by the streaming capability of the machine so giving Netflix a try.

Last time I tried Netflix, I was really disappointed by video quality and picture / sound sync issues. It seems to have come a long way since then.

But I still have an issue with sound dropping out when streaming in 5.1 sound as opposed to Stereo.
I only have a soundbar so my question is:

1..Anyone else have this problem on the Sony?
2..Is it because this is a limitation of the soundbar or is it more likely a network issue? I use a Powerline fixed LAN connection to avoid wi-fi issues.
