    Hello everyone,

General question here; does anyone have any strong opinions on which of the above amps is the better amp?

They aren't that dissimilar in price and I've pretty much set my heart on the Sony, however I heard a good demo of the Yam last weekend so now am completely torn.

If its any use I will be using the amp with Monitor Audio Radius R90AV package, a Sony KDL40W2000 LCD and a PS3 - mainly for use with TV, movies from PS3 (DVD/Blu-Ray) and music playing again from the PS3 (CD and music stored on hard drive). I only have Sky+ at the moment, but will probably upgrade to HD when I move house this summer.

    Any thoughts much appreciated

    Guido

P.S. The wife prefers the look of the sony in black :D

    Hi Don Guido

I have'nt heard the two receivers but here are two reviews for the rx-v1700 - which won best reciever 750-1000 in the what hi-fi awards 2006 and is also regarded by areadvd as the best reciever around at the reatail price.

And one for the sony 5200ES. The 5200ES also won an award in the homecinemacoice awards I believe.

I hope they help you to decide which one is for you.

Thanks for the reply, I shall read with interest so to speak. Just really torn now, both seem to me like good AV amps - in the not out of this workd budget wise range!
