Sony 40X3000, do I need an upscaling DVD player?

Hi all. I was looking at the DVD players forum at upscaling players to make the best out of my 40X3000, but someone said that often TVs upscale DVD content better than all but high-end upscaling DVD players. Is this true? And particularly, is this true for my 40X3000? Is it worth me buying an upscaling player (and if so at what level/price range) or will my LCD do the work for me?

Buy the upscale player, they are only cheap. Scaling on the X3000 or any other LCD for that matter is shockingly bad.
