Just got this telly to replace a Sony 28" widescreen but oh dear!

The horizontal linearity is awful, as objects move to the sides of the screen they grow in size. This is really noticeable with horizontally scrolling credits, they arrive at 900mph, move gently across the centre of the screen and then accelerate off the screen again.

Is this normal for 32" tubes? The 28" certainly doesn't do it!

    Any ideas anyone?

Sounds to me that you have the telly in one of its scan modes designed to fit 4:3 pictures into a 16:9 screen. Try changing the scan modes - there are likely to be a number of them to try. I don't think your telly is faulty by your description. Regards, yt.

Yep, sounds like you've got it in SMART mode.

It basically stretches the image across the entire screen, but unfortunately causes the effect you are describing.

Try pressing the button to the left of the big circle in the middle of the controller. It is a box with four arrows in it. This selects between view modes. You should be watching 4:3 tv in 4:3. SMART etc. ruins the picture, in my opinion.

Great TV though, you should be very happy with it. I know I am :smashin:
