Extremely easy to mount on the ceiling (Unicol Gyrolok mount).

Extremely easy to use and setup.

Extremely pleasing picture ... even with composite connection with NTL cable.

Extremely pleasing picture ... even in a fairly bright environment

Extremely pleasing blacks .. even with downlighters on using 1000 ANSI

As you can guess from above .... extremely happy :p

I chose the MDF route as I thought if it went wrong I lose £50 .. if it goes right ... I save myself £900. Pleased to say the MDF looks fab! ... saved myself a bloody fortune!

Projecting a 98" image from 3.5 metres with no 'chicken-wire effect'.

Will post screen shots when I get time

    PIP,

I take it you mean MDF with Icestorm 5?

If so, do you find the picture abit dull or
    is it ok?

    Lookforward to those screen shots!

    Cheers,

    Pip,
    Great Choice!!

BUT remember this, the picture you are now seeing is 40% of what the Sony is capable of!

Via p.c. at 1366 x 768,after Avia calibration(Smart next...) the picture is brilliant!!

Look at the Big Picture website for more...

MDF is painted with Tate Matt Vinyl Stone (sold at B&Q). I chose this grey as it was a shade in between Icestorm4 and 5.
To get the maximum screen size from a sheet of MDF, I made the frame on the wall first and slotted the MDF in. The masking frame wood was 1cm wider than the base frame to give a minimum overlap on the MDF (my frame was so tight it didn't need the overlap to hold in place!). I achieved a screen width of 216cm.

The masking frame is painted with Internation Matt Black which is non-reflective. There is a faint overscan even on this but not enough to cause annoyance.
