Anyone know if Sony have plans to bring out a replacement for the 1070 with DPL2? I have a 940 but I'm getting fed up with DPL1 on TV movies. I would go for the Marantz 5200 but they don't do it in silver. Damn them. Any other good DPL2 amps available in silver around £400?

    paiger,
Sony STR-DB1080, more or less straight replacement for 1070, but with DPL2, also "UK tuned".
Should be in the shops August.

Thanks guys. Anyone know anything about the Yammy 630? I can get it for £380 and it looks pretty good. How does it stack up against the Sony sound wise?

I did read somewhere that Sony will be dropping the two-way remote for the 1080! I don't know if this has any impact on your selection.

Yes, it would make me more likely to get one. That's my biggest complaint with the 940 I have. I wish it would just do what I wanted it to occasionally. Like you press function because you want to change from CD to TV/SAT and it won't have it. Just keeps defaulting to CD. It was a good idea but never worked.

    Paiger,

Have a look at a Marantz. They are classified as gold but they aren't as they are silverish with bits of gold trim. I didn't want gold sitting in my chrome / silver rack but it looks OK

Which model have you got? I like the look of the 5200. Maybe I'll have a look at one in the flesh.

IanJ You're selling the Marantz ?
You were saying how good it was....did you upgrade to the 3801 in the for sale section ?

Id love to hear a review between the 2 machines if you have the inclination ? (Sorry if you've already posted one and I've missed it).

    Thanks

No - Denon AVC 10SE. I can live without Pro Logic 2 as I don't watch much TV and I don't think that my two year old will complain at having to watch cartoons in ordinary PL.

I was talking into buying it by one of the moderators. I won't mention any names but it is warmer in Spain at this time of year so if there is no significant improvement I will be taking a very short holiday with my garroting rope.

    Hello

I have the Sony STR-DB930 and you can turn off the two way remote feature in the setup menu, can't you do the same on the 940 if it is being a pain???

    Cheers

    Chris
