Or £382.99 at HiFiBitZ where if you use quizalympics for the voucher option you can get 5% off and then it would be £362.84!

My 1080 should be coming tommorow from them. It took about 8 days for it to come in stock though.

I don't know that much about the 1070 but i think they're pretty similar connections wise.

The main differences (i think) are Dolby Digital EX, Pro Logic II & DTS: ES, Matrix 6.1, Discrete 6.1, Neo:6.
Also its 100 watts x 6 power output instead of 80 watts x 6 to the speakers.

    KelvinP,

We have the same amp and dvd players. Do you have the same problems as me listening to some CD's? My set up sounds really messy, just on some recordings not all. I was listening to a remastered CD of Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix last night and it was barely listenable. Someone elsewhere on this site advised me to connect via phonos for CD rather than using the optical cable I have for DVD so I'll try this, can you shed any more light on my problem?

I primarily use my setup for AV use (have a dedicated 2ch setup in th other room). However, when playing CD's I'd be lying if I said I'd experienced any "problems".

I'm the first to admit that I'm by no means an audiophile, but playback of both regular CD's, and SACD's is certainly very reasonable in 2ch (connected up with an IXOS digital coax lead). Playback is via B&W 602.5 S3's.

There is a difference when compared to my Hi-Fi, but no more than I would expect from a comparison between any other AV amp, and 2ch amp.

Sorry I can't be of any more help in narrowing down your problem :(

Got my Sony 1080 & Elac Cinema 1 from HiFiBitz today, great service from them. High recommended company.

I'd email them to find out when they expect your 1080 to come in stock if it isn't already in stock. Just to get a idea when you would receive it.

It's good to be kept up to date on these things, isn't it?

Just did a google search for it. Wasn't hard to find and theres no expiry date on that voucher too! Unlike the avforums voucher which has of course expired.

Pity there isn't a superfi in Scotland though. :(

F1F3R, i'd stick with HiFiBitz if i was you. It would probably only take about a week to come in stock and finding a place where the 1080 is actually in stock could be a little difficult.......

I bought 1080 amp and SA-VE835 speaker package from Robert Whyte in November for £350 and £400 respectively.
As I also live in Fife and as we are notoriously mean I travelled to Glasgow (where Robert Whyte are based) to collect the gear and save £25 p&p.
Store looks a bit ropey but the staff are excellent and I cannot fault the amp or speakers.....
I recommended Robert Whyte to a colleague and he purchased the Dav-S880 over the net from them with no problems.
    Hope this helps.
