Has your 26" Sonix LCD failed to the extent that you returned it? Simple yes or no.

Obviously no only covers for the few months you've had it. We can see from the main thread on the sonix that lots have failed, but it'd be nice to know if that's a small or large percentage of those that have been bought.

    Cheers

My first one went bad (solarisation effect) after about two months of use but I've been using the replacement since April the 25th and it's still a great picture.

Freeview into my Panny DMR EH50 (via RGB SCART) and then into the Sonix through the component inputs looks incredible! I don't know how it can improve the picture so much - but it does!

I take it u voted 1 each then. 1 working, 8 failed, not great. I bought 2, but haven't used them yet, as I'm only just finishing a loft conversion (bought them early due 2 15% staff disc). Was just wanting to know the chances of them making it. Must be a lot more owners on here, be nice to see a larger representation.

So I know before I vote does it have to be the Sonix or can we include Clones/Originals and what size ??

I have the V7 32incher which I think the Sonix may be a clone of or vice versa.

Still a brilliant picture 4 months on  (as he touches lots of wood with everything crossed. LOL)

I guess because I've put 26" in the question, should leave the poll as that (I only knew of the 26" sonix, which many bought from sainsburys), although I'm not pretending it's up to me. Glad your 32 is still working.

Sorry to complicate matters, but, as I've pointed out in the Sainsburys/Sonix thread, Sainsburys sold two models- one resembling the Goodmans, the other like the V7. I had hoped to get comparative reliability data for the two versions.

I don't know which version's which. I'd have no problem with the poll being changed (or someone replacing this one) to have 4 outcomes (ver 1 failed, ver 1 not failed, ver 2 fail/not) but I'm not sure if enough people are interested to make it worth it.

You are probably right that this is of interest to too few people.
What I meant to say was that I had hoped to encourage people posting to the original thread to make it clear which version they were referring to ["black border" or "mirror strip"]. That does now seem to be happening :)

I bought my Sonix 26" from Sainsburys on 10th April. It occasionally suffered from solarisation until a couple of weeks ago. Over the past couple of weeks it has been dreadful - the red sofa on BBC Breakfast News is black and the presenters' faces are green. I took it back today and got a refund.

I bought one in April which had the pink colour problem after about 6 weeks , was swopped for another which I currently have which has just started to go wrong as well after 2 months !! I think its refund time. The problem I have is I need to have both DVI and component as I use it as a PC monitor and connect my Xbox via component to get the 720p picture.

Anyone seen anthing in a similar price range 500- 600 that has both and a responable response time (16ms) ?

    Cheers

PS both have had a black boarder around the screen

I've had mine since April 1st.. and, fingers crossed... it's still perfect (though I must say that I'm probably going to return it in March just in case!). Mine is the one with the black border.

I had been though 2 of these - both lasted maybe 2 months tops before the colours went. Took the 2nd one back back on sunday and got a full refund with no hassle at all from Sainsburys - Bought a Samsung LE26R41 for £580 so for the extra 80 Quid I am very pleased. I had the two LCD's next to each other playing on 2 chipped Xboxes before I took it back and the Samsung completely destorys the Sonix (no suprize there).

Not that you're allowed to return it if used and not faulty.

    Thanks for the responses guys.

I've got 2 unopened sonix's here (got them for £425 each), and the house is just ready for me to install them.

But if they go wrong next summer (and it looks like they probably would) I'd be stuffed. So I think I'll take them back unopened (have a year to do so).
