Sonic the Hedgehog question

Alright guys,

Unless im going blind, I couldnt see a Sonic thread!

I have done all the achievements now apart from the quick win (complete the game within 40mins) which im about to attempt. Does anyone know if completing the game includes getting the chaos emeralds? I could save a hell of a lot of time not going in search of rings to get the special stage!!

Any help much appreciated

You don't need the emeralds for that achievement.
