    Hi,

I have my sub on the floor of my bedroom, unfortunately this is an upstairs room and they don't take to kindly to the ceiling rumbling or only being able to hear the thud of bass when I watch movies. Is there anything I can put the sub on to stop this, or at least make it less noticeable for those below :).

Unfortunatly the floor is the only place for it at the moment.

    Cheers

I'm not sure if this is best in the Power Buys section (maybe mattym can come up trumps with this one!) but depending on your sub, Auralex Mopads or a Gramma platform would help. Gary Lightfoot has a DIY version if you do a search for it, otherwise a really big stone block above and below the unit should help a bit. :)

I AM currently working on something, i'm aiming to have something ready for testing later this month, i dont hink its possible to completely isolate the sub from the floor, ive tried all sorts of exotic and not so exotic materials and found that nothing works completely.

I hope to be able to offer a platform soon, i will let you all know when im done! :smashin:

    *aiming to be cheap too...*

That's good news indeed mattym, I'd be interested to hear how it compares with my Mopads which are made of the same Platfoam stuff as on the bottom of the Gramma platform - they suit my smaller subs much better. :)

I'm sure you'll do a great job. As good as the Auralex stuff is I've certainly never considered it to look like anything more than a few lumps of material glued together.

We're all waiting with baited breath. :smashin:

have samples of the main material coming early next week, i found a mateial that works quiet well, if it works in a form that looks rather better than how it normally comes then we will be rocking!!

Im trying to stay away from the generic look but it may not work out like that in the end

Are we getting close yet Matt? I've just moved accomodation and need my Mopads to support my speakers so a decent platform (that comes in a sensible size for my tiny subs) would be just the ticket. I can't wait. :)

ive been rushed recently, but i now have all the samples, costs and all the rest of it, just need to have a test now, which is a tad hard, as i have a concrete floor, so it wont really make a huge difference to me! A plan is afoot though, so watch this space(some more)

    hello!

Funny you should post tonight! i have had some preliminary results back, on wood floors, such as floorboards, there is a definate improvement, heavily carpeted floors are not so promsing, but the other material(im STILL waiting for)might well make the difference there. I will be talking with my tester more tomorrow as i have some other business to chat with him about, but after that chat i will have crystalised my thoughts, and the Basic version will be ready to go. Got a couple of other odds and ends to pick up on this, so should be ready very soon.

Thanks Matty, I'm just the impatient type but I'm glad to hear it's coming along nicely. Pretty much as I'd expect for something close to a new platform design.

Take the time and get it right. :)

There is always the Kill Vibe in the Powerbuy section if you're that impatient.

I know but that's much bigger than what I want and I'm very sceptical of the benefits that will be provided by it's design on a thickly carpeted floor. :)
