They filmed the MTV Xbox 360 launch show the other night, and a few people who attended it have been talking about what they saw. There was an audio file over at GamerTagRadio, and I got a copy before it was pulled. What I found interesting relating to the new console that I'd not heard before include:

    - Xbox 360 confirmed as name.
    - Wireless pads were used, though they were prototypes and not a finished version. There is a new "Live" button which pulls up the Live menu at any point.
    - DVD burner included.
    - TIVO functionality included - though I assume only on the hard disk version.
    - Text messaging functionality included - though I'm not sure if the American use of this phrase is the same as ours, so could be a red herring.
    - Perfect Dark Zero is a launch title (it is Live playable) and a demo was playable that included a player imported image, presumably from the USB camera.

I think there will be even more things to be revealed on Thursday when the show airs, as the guests were still saying there are things they weren't allowed to talk about.

No, they don't! Came a bit out of the blue that one, but I guess it fits in with the Media Centre menu system that the 360 is rumoured to have.

Thats come a bit out of the blue :D. Plus more supprises on the way? Microsoft aint playin about :D

I guess that puts an end to my predicted prices though. I was hoping the prices to be £200 (Basic)/£300 (Super-duper version). The more I read though its sounds more like £300/£400 which when you consider what we'll be getting doesn't sound too bad I suppose.

I hope MS can keep all the easy-of-use of a console though. The closer we get to the "pc in a box" the closer we get to all the pc's problems

wow looks like theyre throwing everything including the kitchen sink at this. Now I've heard that the 360 is gonna be hidef (for pal as well) but it doesnt look like its gonna be a hddvd player ( I doubt theyll have a single drive that'll play cd's, dvd's, dvdrw and hddvd's, i mean noones seen a standalone hddvd player yet let alone a combo drive). But i'm guessing if it'll be some kind of media player then it should be able to play back windows media hd flicks.

Now imagine if MS beat the other big players to hidef this way. Remember the ps2 really helped kickstart the dvd market this way (i bet theres alot people whos first dvd was a ps2 because at the time dvd players were almost as pricey as a ps2). All MS have to do is publicise WMhd movies and get publishing deals with the major film companies. If sony can make such a big fuss over its psp movies (via umd) which to me sound gimmicky (i mean whats the point of seeing films on such a tiny screen), then MS have a much more enticing product on their hands.

Aah well all will be revealed n/week hopefully

If this is white and you cant change the fascia then I will never buy one. White is so tacky, gets dirty so easily, is such a copy of Apple, would never fit into a home cinema setup,,,, just generally awful....

    Aaargh!

Just out of interest how does Tivo functionality work with the current media centre xbox's? Is it just compatible with terrestrial TV or does it work equally well with Cable / Sky with full EPG support??

    Looking good!

The XBox "X" is also 4 split buttons! very clever.

Any idea what the graphics are like? Are we talking better than a PC with a Gforce 6800 Ultra, or an ATi 800XT? I know its a custom GPU but what is it closest to?
    Resolution? AA?

Also how will the HDD affect gaming?

Another question would be what kind of conections will it have?
Dont worry if u dont know, im just asking out loud!

well well resolution is going to be 1280 x 720 as thats the min spec the game has to be designed for. i remember think it was the CES show they mentioned that Full Screen AA with Sm3.0 path will all have to be included in the games.

hmm does not look as nice in that photo as the ones showing sneak peaks earlier on, i agree white looks very tacky and does not fit into "most" peoples home cinema racks.
