A couple of months ago I decided to upgrade from a compact (Ixus 2) to a 350D. I took a few photos at a track day last night and I thought I would share them for your thoughts. I attempted motion blurring the background in a couple to show the speed of the cars, looks easy on paper I can tell you its not in practise !! The lens used was a 70-200mm L F4.

Well the panning seems to have worked. Although the background is blurred, I think it is still important to get the "right" background, so as not to distract too much from car, but also to give enough impression of blur for impression of speed. Very good of you to blank out their number plates
