I have a dell 5150c wich has onboard graphics and a x600se pci express graphics card. but i can only use one at once else the machine wont start up and tells me to use the pcix card.

is there anyway of using both outputs on the 5150?

No, I'm afraid not. If you want dual monitors you will have to upgrade your gfx card.

As said above, you'll have to buy a newer card that supports dual output. Just get any cheap newer card and it should support dual output.

I don't understand when you say you can't get an upgraded gfx card to fit. I have a 5150C and have fitted a Geforce 7600GT (XFX 7600GT XXX) http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=458375 it takes up a single slot and supports two monitors.

There are other single slot dual monitor gfx cards on the market.
