Hi sedulus, Thanks for your interest. I think I have priced it fairly, a super lens for silly money ! I am reluctant to accept offers as the lens was listed less than 24 hours ago. If I still have it in a week I would accept your offer but it is already listed on Talk Photography and will be on Gumtree and Preloved soon. Regards
Just going on sold prices here (including an offer you made yourself!): For Sale - Final Reductions PANASONIC GH-3 + Battery Grip, 14-42 PZ, Pan 100-300 MKII lens and one that didn't sell at that price: For Sale - FS/FT Panasonic GX80, PanaLeica 25mm 1.4, Sigma 60mm 2.8, Pana 12-32 for the same reasons that you stated! They're regularly available for under £90 on places such as Park Camera and MPB. I'll leave my offer on the table.
How did you find the GX7. I've used M4/3 with an olympus EM5 but I just wasn't happy with the perfomance.
Well I have owned far too many cameras over many years. I was shooting with Sony apsc for a few years until changing to m4/3rds. I had a Sony 6000 and some top lenses. If you pixel peep at 100% or if you shoot regularly in low-light situations say iso 2,000 + you will see a small difference, rising as you go higher up the iso scale. This is more than balanced (imo) by the fantastic choice of much smaller cheaper top quality lenses. Also the AF performance of Panasonic/Olympus m4/3rds cameras is far better than Sony 6000. I cannot compare against the later Sony 6300 or 6500 which I understand are very good but these are expensive cameras. It all depends on your expectations and your available budget. Truth is many folk like to buy top quality kit believing it makes them a better photographer ? then all they do it show pictures online and on forums, this is me basically although I have printed quite a few over the years for my own use. The GX7 is a lovely camera to handle but a little smaller than I like hence I have a GX8 now. 16mp gx7 v 20mp gx8 who cares ? unless you are printing BIG. Bet you wish you had never asked now ?
You got me ! 'Hoist by my own petard' as the saying goes. You can have it for £80.00 but I will post by this method. Royal Mail, Tracked 24 with Signature. 1 day delivery Up to £100 for loss or damage. This will save me £2+ over special delivery. You need to know I cannot post until monday now, no PO in my village and I cannot get to one until monday a.m. Do we have a deal ?
Thanks for the in depth answer . I'd be coming from Fujifilm but not being able to afford any lenses for it and stuck with manual focus the bug to switch systems itches again. I do remember the AF being pretty fast but I was coming from a D300 so it couldn't quite compare. I'd probably be getting the Pany 25mm F1.7 as the kit lenses never impressed me. How quick were you looking for a sale as I probably wouldn't be able to bite the bullet until I sell my Fujifilm X100 unless you'd be able to do £170?
Well, I not prepared to drop to £170.00. It has only been listed approx 24hrs and £195.00 (or thereabouts) isn’t going to change my life. You could probably find a GX7 for less than £200.00 on ebay and possibly £230ish from a reputable used seller i.e WEX, Camera Jungle but for that price they wouldn’t be Excellent/Mint You have the right idea with the Pany 25mm 1.7, super lens. Good luck with your decision.
