Has anyone else got solaris on dvd? I'm talking about the george clooney hollywood version, not the original russian film.

An obnoxious message about not letting anyone rent this film etc confronts you on first inserting, with a patronising voice-over that can't be skipped.

    Followed by...... Bloody film trailers!

What a sweet irony that on a dvd that advertises thats its not for rental, it has the audacity to put filthy trailers on it!!!! They are skippable, but why should i have to skip them? I want to enjoy my movies, not sitting anxiously upright ready to press the "top menu" button on my dvd player

We pay good money for dvds and i for one don't want to see any more obnoxious messages or trailers, however skippable. they may be! I emailed fox about this, but surprise, surprise cilla, no responce.

    Rant over :(

I agree with your entirely on this. If they want to put trailers of films etc that may be of interest to the purchaser of that DVD they should be tucked away in the 'Special Features' section - not in your face at the start of the DVD. Still I suppose we should be greatful they are skippable.

The worst example I've seen of this is on "Ken Burn's Jazz", the R1 ten disc version that costs over £100 - it has a sequence that can't be skipped thanking all of the sponsors by name - bloomin' irritating when you've paid loadsa money to own the set & not watch it on the telly where of course you wouldn't have got the list as it was shown on the beeb!

28 Days Later is the only DVD I've got that has this...I was quite shocked when I first saw it, I thought they gave these up on VHS a long time ago...

Disentry DVDs are easy to deal with Search button 1 then enter as soon as the player recognises the disc, goes straight to the film:cool:

However my wife just presses next all the way through!

Anyway I will avoid Solaris as I don't want this rubbish, also I haven't bought any Disentry DVDs for ages

I'd love to know how to skip past the stupid scrolling copyright notice and ridiculously long menu animations on some DVDs!

Can you Imagine how people would moan about a DVD with French writing, trailers before the start of the film, no DTS option in a Snapper case and very long animated menus. :rotfl: The internet, a great place for people to come and whinge about stuff that dosen't matter. Get a life. :lesson:

We have lives we just don't want these DVD producers stealing them.

Lets say 4 minutes of crap, 100,000 sales, 3 watches per disc = 2 year roughly of various peoples lives just stolen:thumbsdow

edit was because I originally thought seconds:mad:

Imagine someone actually taking the time to whinge about other people whinging!

How much of your life do you waste actually reading all this stuff then taking the trouble to reply to it. Especially if you don't agree with it!

    Now THAT is sad...

well someone's got to be apathetic i suppose!
lets just hope in a couple of years time we don't have to sit through 5 hours of patronising warnings and unskippable trailers. Hell why don't i set my sky+ to record all the adverts onto a tape and i can just watch that instead
