Hi Guys,
I hope someone can help. I'm trying to upgrade our networking at work. So far I've installed a D-link DGS-1210-24 port smart switch. I'm looking to add a couple of wifi access points around the building and I'm not too sure which direction to go in.
I nearly bought a ubuquiti AP but got confused by all the models and the cloud controller.
Can you use it without the cloud controller?
The AP needs to be POE (with an injector as my switch isn't POE) and the 1st one roughly about £100.
We generally only have around 5-15 devices attatched at one time.

I hope someone can help.

Steve

The Ubiquiti AC-lite and AC-pro are supplied with a single POE injector. They can both be setup using just an IOS or Android app, you do not need to use or install the Unifi controller software. You will lose some functionality not installing software. If you do install the controller software it does not have to be permanently running.

The Cloud controller is a self contained device running the software that can be used to configure the AP, once configured it is not needed. It is useful to see what clients are connected etc and alerts.

The full software will run on any PC with Java 64bit version installed.
