Software to change length of .vobs

Hi,

Apologies if this is the wrong section pof the forum, but didn't really know where to post this.

I am looking for an easy-to use piece of software that will allow me to rip .vobs from my DVD collection, and then save them to a specified file length with no lose of quality of audio or vision.

For example if my DVD contained 6 .vobs each of 1GB, I'd like to rip these and then save the files as 2 .vobs (one of 4Gb and one of 2GB).

The important thing is the audio/visual data must be exactly as on the DVd (i.e. not downsampled or converted to anyother format.)

Thanks in advance.

Take care when answering this one as the rules around here do not permit debate or advice about software that allows copyright protected material to be decrypted so I assume we are talking about material that is not copyright protected.

I think the question we must ask is, why? Why not just compress (or not) the DVD slightly and save it as an ISO and then the whole DVD will just be one file and play exactly the same as the original would have.

save them to a specified file length with no lose of quality of audio or vision.

If you are going to change the size of the individual file sizes then lose of quality from the original is unavoidable, whether you notice the difference or not is another matter.

Apologies Moderator Mark.

Please remove my post if it is not permissable.

I assumed backing up already owned DVDs (to a media server) was allowed as it is often discussed in these forums.

Andy, I now agree with you. Slight compression was the way to go. The drop in image quality was not noticable to any great extent.

Nothing I need to remove so far :)

It is a slippery slope though so I do appreciate the care people have taken so far in their comments.
