I have posted this question before, but cannot seem to find the right product, so any help would be invaluable.

I am trying to find a user friendly programme, that will let me add transitions to my home footage, which I have recorded onto RAM.
I am using TMPG Enc which is great and a doddle to use, but I cannot find an effects programme that is as easy. I have downloaded the trial of "Womble" but that did not proceed correctly (download error I think). I have tried Edit studio & Movie edit silver, but have proved to be more trouble than I can tolerate!!!. Does anyone know of anything that can be used in conjunction with TMPG that will show all the frames involved and let me add the effects where desired. It's such a simple thing I want to do...yet most of the programmes on offer seem to be more geared up to offering a poor mans I.L.M. ( a space explosion special effect is not what one would add to a home video of flamingo land). Also, frame accurate editing would be a useful tool ?

    Thanks

What sort of things do you want to do? TMPG Encoder 3Xpress is designed to offer some processing effects/post-production stuff but it may be too simple for what you want to do. Alternatively Ulead ( www.ulead.com ) offers a good suite of programmes at various price-points (and most have free, time-limited trials).

    ULead Video Studio 8.

Very easy to use. Lets you add transitions, titles, music and more.

    Only £50 or less...Absolute bargain

Roxio creator suite is also quite good at around £50 and has a comprehensive set of tools to do anything related to data, music and video recording and editing. I did a quite professional looking wedding video and slide show with it.

I would suggest the Womble route as depending on what you need to do, it does not re-code/re-render unnecessarily unlike most other packages.

If you want to add transitions then you will need to re-render.

Ulead Video Studio 8 uses a 'smart render' process where it will only re-render where it needs to like transitions, but it won't re-render any un-processed footage.
