You may recall that I am searching for a new DVD player to add to my system, and it had to be good quality to use with higher end equipment.

I first of all did a side by side with The Arcam DV88 and the Denon 2800MKII, the review can be found Here . I then also tried the Onkyo DV-939S THX machine, review is Here .

So did i go and buy any of them? Yes I did, and the winner was....

    The Onkyo DV-939S THX.

As well as brilliant picture quality, the player was excellent at spinning CD's in two channel. And the build quality was second to none. So it won the day, and emptied the bank account, but it fits in perfectly with my Tag/Rotel.Barco and M&K system.
It is a quality piece of kit and i would recommend people at least look at it when upgrading their systems.

A Big thank you to Craig and Nev at Sevenoaks Newcastle for first class service again, i can't recommend them enough, brilliant dealership.

So i'm off to watch some movies.................:smoke:

    (Prices vary between £900 - 1100)

You could have bought 20 Jeremy Beadle DVD players for the same price as the Onkyo though (and have 20x50 free DVD's) :)

    Hope you enjoy :)
I've never seen an Onkyo, it is refreshing to see worthwhile posts about an alternative to the usual suspects.
Must be worth investigating along with the others.
    Thanks.

I didn't try it at home but have seen it doing its thing in dem rooms, and to be honest, IMHO it was not up to the standard of the competition or my existing equipment. Good for the money though.

    Good stuff Phil!...:smashin:

I had a feeling you'd go for the Onkyo...

It's an underrated player with exceptional build quality & rather spiffing performance....

    Hope you enjoy it mate.
