Got a LE26R41BDX for use as a PC Monitor, 360 screen and spare TV in my study!!

Well pleased with it - especially for £611 - been testing out the 720p mode of the current Xbox recently!

I would have to disagree. LCD's are better overall for gaming and DVD's compared to plasmas. Plasmas suffer from burn in where as LCD's don't. LCD's have come a long way and are a lot better then they use to be. And as has already been mentioned plasmas aren't available in smaller sizes. There is no way I could fit a 42" plasma in my bedroom.

I don't think anyone can categorically say one is better then the other - the statement is pretty irrelevant cause it depends on our individual circumstances!!

LCD was my only option as I didn't want a screen bigger than 26" for the study.

I guess if you are in the market for a bigger screen then the choice may be more difficult - can't really make a sweeping statement for either!

Anyhow - this will just turn into yet another LCD v Plasma thread if we go down that road! :boring:

Sharp LC26GA3E. Bought almost a year ago. Lovely TV.

Got a Lik Sang component switch hooked up to my PS2, Soft modded Xbox and my HD upscaling Samsung DVD player.

When I get the 360 is a simple case of whipping out the Xbox and putting the 360 in and powering it up :)

    Here's my 2ps worth.

    1. LCDs and plasmas are in my eyes equal technologies, both with their pros and cons, but both suited to gaming. I would not give preference to one over the other for gaming purposes.
    2. Screen burn is no longer a problem for normal home use of either technology.

With current 720p HD technology they are equal, moving towards 1080p LCD's have a big advantage. You can get 1080p on a 37" LCD easily, even apple do a 32" capable of 1080p. Pioneer are launching a 50" 1080p set and are working on a 43" version.
50" + plasmas arent the kind of products that sell easily, a 32" LCD from dixons for £1500 can sell to the public. When 1080p starts becommong more popular LCD will start to become the dominant display type. Thats unless some other technology appears which it probably will.

Fair enough, but you're talking years off there, like when the Xbox 360 is being put into retirement. For this gen, LCD (smaller screen sizes) and plasma (larger) are very viable to play your 360 on, as like you say 720p will be the dominant resolution for the next-gen stuff.

I have a Samsung LE26R51B. What cable will give the best picture quality for the Xbox 360? The component or the VGA?

LC32GA6E 32 inch sharp, as a backup to my rd50 dlp.

Should be delivered in the next week. Getting a loverley Vogels wall arm with tilt to mount it. Perfect for lying on the coutch playing games.

Actually the LCD is for my wife to watch!

I'll do a test when they both arrive, if the LCD is good for 360 then I'll use that as well ;)

I must say that if I was to revert back to small screen gaming ;) then i'd be tempted by the Samsung LE40R51B. That is one nice TV for £1,500!

As far as I can see it lacks in contrast to the LE40M51B but £500 is a lot to pay for the better contrast. I'd have to see them both in action if I was going to look at an LCD though.

Personally i'm sticking with my HD Z3 PJ for now as you can't beat a big screen (especially for racing & FPS games) IMO.

I'll be using the Samsung LE26R41BDX 26" Greenwich II LCD TV for all my consoles and my PC

However I'm sure to be hooking the Xbox 360 to my Panasonic 42" PV500 from time to time. Especially when I've had a few to many beers, and can't see to well

To be honest I wouldn't mind a nice LCD as well but can't afford one at the moment. Once you've sampled a 100" HD screen though it's hard to go back to the likes of 32" & 40". I just feel much more part of the game (less detached) when playing on a big screen.
