Hi all,

I think that the first track on an album is very important as they set the scene for the rest of the album.

Here are a few recent favs of mine:

Killers – Jenny Was A Friend of Mine
Lykke Li – Youth Know No Pain
Santigold – LES Artistes
Santigold – Go !
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Zero
Kills – Future Starts Slow
MGMT – Time To Pretend
TV on the Radio - Halfway Home

What are your favourites?

A few that I noticed scanning my playlists

Slayer - Hell Awaits, Angel Of Death, South Of Heaven
Iron Maiden - Aces High, The Wickerman, Different World
Metallica - Blackened, maybe 'Hit The Lights' aswell
Lostprophets - Everyday Combat
Papa Roach - To Be Loved
System Of A Down - Suite-Pee
Foo Fighters - Bridge Burning
Nofx - Soul Doubt, Linoleum

I guess the first song is heard the most so you end up liking it even if it's not very good. I like Iron Maiden's 'Invaders' but it's a weak song, I've listened to it so much I don't even noticed the jarring key change in the chorus anymore.

Can you remember cassette tapes and vinyl, it was almost like having 2 first tracks.

Made a list but with about 30-40 songs and lots of multiples from the same band/artist, I'll try to cut it down and then lost it.
