So we're all buying sets with HDMI inputs....

..most of the new sets today have 1 single HDMI input. Next year when you have your DVD player, SkyHD and your Games console all wanting to share the same input I can't see the average consumer buying a dedicated HDMI switch box. It takes up another rack space, it's more wires, and another wall socket.

Are there going to be other options? like HDMI thu-put on DVD players? or adaptors that don't require external power?

Good point. Perhaps its like history repeating with SCART sockets. Even now you'll be hard pushed to find TV sets with 2 or 3 RGB SCART sockets - which I think is just plain stupid as most people have DVD, console, SKy etc (this is not quite so important now with component etc).
