so I saw a philips 9830 in action...

    Stunning, even with SD feed (37" & 32").

    Question is, is it worth the extra money over a good looking sony V series?

    Strange, i heard a couple of people working in different shops, and all three of them agreed the pictures were unstable and very pixelated... interested to hear more about it :)

    From what I see on the 'official' 9830 threads, people who originally saw the TV and were unimpressed soon changed their mind once seeing one set up properly (i.e. with some decent settings).

    Gavinp - I'm still trying to find one in stock somewhere myself to see... Do you mind me asking where you saw it?

    in Nottingham have both the 32" and 37" in stock.
    The 32" is on display and they were going to set up a 37"

    just bought a 32" 9830 and a 37" 9830 from musical images in edgware.

    Couldn't wait! They have both in the shop so you can compare and contrast. I have to say that the V series i have seen may have had bad feeds but they looked awful. Even if they look excellent turned off I can't spend that kind of money for a rubbish piccie. The 9830's looked great - really creamy smooth with very natural picture if that makes sense...

    Thanks - but Nottingham is a bit far (I'm in Surrey)... Maybe I'll end up convinced enough from what I read just to take the plunge online!
