anybody think we will get a significant snowfall this winter or do you think this little dusting we got last night will be it?

I know down south with all the problems at the moment it will be the last thing you guys want but do we think it will happen?

was looking forward to taking the little 1 sledging this year as he is at the right age for it now poss have to make do with the indoor one at Castleford

Hopefully not, I hope the light dusting yesterday is all we see.

It'll be a little light at the end of a tunnel for those down south too, who don't need it on top of what they are already dealing with.

Yesterday I got caught in some very heavy snow fall yesterday in Derry. It reminded me that I need new tyres.

Last year we had terrible snow in March, but hopefully that was a one off.....I need some heat in my bones.

Not a chance here in East Anglia, far too mild as it's been all winter.
Just wind, rain, wind then rain again.
Had a small amount of snow last March, so maybe there's still some hope.

1.5m here so far, 500m, Karnten, Austria. 1m fell in 1-2 days. I had to stop cycling for 1 week until they cleared the cycle path. It is too warm and the snow is the horrid sticky heavy type. It clogs up my gears when its like that and the trees bend and fall over across the cycle path. All good fun :)

That's what you call proper snow.
We miss out on proper winters here :(

I'm assuming if it had been a few degrees cooler, all this rain we're having would have come down as snow?

I wouldn't mind proper snow like that too - but we (as in the uk) can't cope with an inch of snow at the best of times... I was pleasantly surprised that the gritters had been out before I left work this morning tho...but if it continues for any length of time then it'll be back to long delays etc :(

That's because we're not used to it.
Countries that have heavy snow every year are set up for it. I've spent many a winter in Norway and it's business as usual.

Don't bother coming to our high ground when we get independence.

(don't want independence myself, but don't let that spoil the joke)

I'd welcome some snow on top of all the flooding. then we could go ice skating rather than having to wade everywhere :)

Snow is not much problem here. They are disappointed if no snow falls. I have spiked tyres on my bike and winter tyres on my car. Snow=fun. As I am a Brit I wish I knew about them when I lived in England. Winter tyres would be much better and safer than all season tyres for UK winter conditions too. That debate pops up whenever the UK grinds to halt with a few cm of snow.

At the mo its hovering around freezing. It unseasonally warm and the melting snow can be very slippery and tricky to cycle on even with spiked tyres. When its colder its much better. Spikes like ice more than tarmac :)

We in central Scotland got a lot of snow fall with a small amount lying on the ground. Today it has been dry, wet, raining, snow, sleet.... Repeat.

Nothing significant. We will probably get a significant snow fall through March like it has been the last few years.

I was just thinking about this about 20 mins ago. I do like the snow, even though it can be extremely inconvenient for people, the kid inside me just still gets excited ^_^

Snow is for Christmas cards. Let's leave it that way.

Oh hang on, I'm buying a 4x4. Let it snow, let it snow. Let it snow.

I don't think we will get any down South and if we do the grounds too warm and wet for it to lay.

I was hoping for a cold winter but it just didn't happen.

The potential for snow is still there but I can't see it happening. I think all we can do now is hope for a hot summer. I didn't get to enjoy last summer so it would be nice if it is hot this year.

I love it when it snows.

I got a sledge for Christmas (although I'm supposed to share it with my 3 yr old) - it doesn't look like I'll get to use it for a while...

there was some late snow last year if I remember but I can't see it happening this winter
I made the most of it last time but it does get tiresome after a few days of it to be honest
