I've just received by Samsung LW22A13WX and on just the blue screen ( even more no when on black ) the screen looks all smudged as if it needs a good clean.

The big issue is that this smudginess shows up in dark scenes on movies.

I've lightly cleaned the screen but its clearly underneath.

This is making the TV almost unwatchable.

Is this smudginess the classic sign of a broke unit - the sign of a poor unit or just the norm for the cheaper LCDs.

My Samsung LCD rear projector is perfect no issues at all so I'm a pit puzzled..just want to know before I arrange the nightmare of sending it back and going through the 'faulty item trial by fire'.

    cheers

It sounds to me like a backlight problem. I had this with my Sony KLV26HG2 at first, and was told by some people on here that it might be the polarisation filter that's at fault.

What's strange though is that the problem actually went away for me. This might be gradual, but I considered that maybe the unevenness disappeared because of me pushing the panel in slightly while cleaning it. Just a thought. Get a soft cloth or something and push lightly all over?
