Long story short painted the kids room on the weekend with some paint that was left outside, had some water in it and tipped most of it away, started painting the walls and it smelled like poo said to the Mrs this doesn’t smell right, anyway painted it Saturday and it stills smells any ideas why? Or how to get rid of the smell? Thanks

The foul smell is from the volatile organic compounds in the paint decaying. Could very well have mold spores living in it. Whatever you are smelling its going straight into your lungs because smells are particular. ... Scrub the walls down with the thinner using towels to get as much of that bad paint off as possible.

Would this work https://www.screwfix.com/p/zinsser-b-i-n-shellac-based-primer-se says it’s a primer and locks in bad smells maybe use that then repaint with new paint?

Yes mate, paper towels, whatever to get rid of everything. Make sure the windows are open.

You can use bleach/white vinegar and water as well.

Please note, do not allow vinegar to come into contact with bleach. They will react and emit chlorine gas.
