    Hey,

Does anyone have any experience with smart projectors? I'm thinking of selling the current projector in favour of one of these if they are any good. If not, I'm getting the Nvidia Shield console to go with my current model.

Do you think smart projectors are a good idea? Is it a market that needs to be expanded or is it a solution to a problem that doesn't exist?

If it's smart as in smart tv then I have the same opinion of them as I do of projectors with built in speakers.

Get a separate Smart Box, you then have more control of its features.

Yeah, it's the same as in smart TV, with it's own custom UI. I would imagine that they would be slow to gain traction, but then again so were smart TV's.

Projectors for home is a relatively small market so not quite the same as TVs

Do you have some models to link to as not actually seen any ☺️

Sounds about as useless as a smart TV I had already decided my next one would be a 50" panel there is no point in the smart functions when you already get them in consoles and BRay players and as has been mentioned separate boxes. I have an Apple TV box and android box so seems a waste of hardware to me. Keep the PJ to the picture leave the rest to other boxes.

Panels are cheaper to import as well as the duty is different (or at least it was) if the device doesnt have a TV tuner

I was leaning to this myself, hence the thread. The set top box/console Nvidia are releasing hits all the right boxes so I think I'll go with that. Next it's a 4K projector for me :)

I'd hold off 4K at least until next year when the standards have settled down or could be an expensive white elephant
