Smallville Season 5

Just caught Episode 1 of this. Seems like a good start to the season. James Marsters looks like the new, to quote Buffy, big bad, and the whole Lex angle is taking another twist. Can't wait for this season to get started. Hopefully, there will be a bit more fluidity with the main story, and not like last season where they ran with it for 5 episodes and then forgot about it until the last 2 or 3.

If you didn't know or don't want to know:

James Marsters is playing Brainiac.

Bryan Singer said at ComicCon a few weeks back that the Superman Returns and Smallville crews have been trading ideas recently - meaning a few more Donner film references in Smallville.

I love that they are constantly playing the John Williams score now :)

The season5 opener just about made up for every poor s4 episode and there were quite a few, love the new titles as well:)

Season 4 was iffy at best. As I said in the opening post, it lacked fluidity. Can't wait for the next episode. Hope it's all a straight story, none of this jumping around crap. More Lex/Chloe please :)

Just finished watching Season 4 and it was enjoyable with some really good episodes in it (the finale was awesome! ), but i really didn't like the Lana/witch storyline, thought it was very pointless as if the writers seemed to realise that Lana was getting boring and made something up! The whole Lana/clark thing has been dragged to far and i hope Season 5 finds a new angle.

I didn't realise it had started in the US already! When's it going to hit our shores for us poor people with a cr*p PC!!??

It'll probably be the new year. Last season, E4 was about 12 episodes behind.

Just finished watching season 4  Some dodgy/silly episodes in there, but on the whole I loved it :smashin:

Anyone know when season five is likely to be out on DVD? I am guessing not for a few months yet :thumbsdow

I haven't read any of the smallville websites as I don't really want to see any spoilers, on the other hand I am dying to know what they are going to do with the show eventually... surely they cannot sustain the whole farmboy thing for too much longer so are they going to develop the show into a full-on Superman series?

Season 5 won't be on DVD until September(ish) 2006, it has to finish both it's US and UK runs before the DVD is released on R1 and R2 plus they use the US DVD release to prime the audience for the start of the new season.

Watching season5 via the net and it's better than season4, the main arc taking a more darker and tighter line (with the usual "fun" eps of course). The dynamic between Lex and Clark evolves more in this season than anyother and of course we have James Marsters becoming a regular guest star:)

Interesting to see if any of Smallville leaks into the new Superman movie.

Yes, I wonder how WB are going to handle that situation - are they really going to have a new Superman movie series running alongside a Superman TV series all made by, and starring different people

I have to get the last two episodes. Internet connection has been iffy lately.

I'm enjoying the main story. I just hope they stick with it and not go all over the place like last season. I hear there's an episode with Santa Claus too :)

Hi all,
So far season 5 is great i'm on episode 7 now.
Lana has been my favourite piece of eye candy but Lois has surpassed her now.
Wait till you check out ep4(Aqua) and ep6(Exposed) WOW what a girl.

If you know where to look, you will find it. Google is your friend.

Anyways, I'm up to date on it now. SPOILER
Episode 6 was great, though they did go a bit OTT with the Dukes of Hazard references. I've never watched the TV show, nor seen the movie, and though I did get the references, I still found them to be more in your face than subtle.

Episode 7 was good enough, but it's more leading up to Episode 8 (which is gonna rock going by all accounts). I can't wait to see more of the whole Milton Fine/Clark angle.

Any ideas who's gonna die in Episode 12 (the 100th episode)? My money is on one of the Kents, perhaps Martha who doesn't seem to be doing anything of note ever really. She hasn't had a plot since the Season 4 pilot. Front runners to die are Chloe, Jonathan, Martha, Lionel or Lana. Obviously Lex won't die, and if they bring back Pete just to kill him, I'll be pretty annoyed.

[SPOILER added by Garrett please read this thread on spoilers here.]

Apologies. Over at my usual forums, we just assume that if you go into a thread on a series that is running at present, you are watching it and are up to date. This thread is specifying Season 5 and not Smallville in general.

Anywho, I'll be more careful.
