    Hi,

I am after a small(ish) 5.1 system for around 1k (anything too imposing will annoy the other half). I also have some money put aside for an AV amp, and think that I'll go for the Yamaha RX-V1600.

So far I have auditioned the following Speaker setups:

    - B&W 1 sats with Velodyne CHT-8R Sub
    - KEF 300 5.1 system

    I am also considering

    - Quad L-ite system
    - SVS SB-01 with PB10 sub.

Does anyone have any experience with the above setups? I am upgrading from an all-in-one Sony system, but want to make sure my money is well spent!

    Many thanks, P.

I've got the yamaha rx-v1600 paired up with the KEF 2005.2 speaker package and it really is excellent sound, absolutely no complaints. I'm sure you'd get some good deals seeing as the new KEFs have just been released. Got my Yamaha and speakers from Sevenoaks sound and vision at Xmas. The Yamaha was £625 and the KEFs were £450 in their winter sale. Hope that helps.
