    Hi guys,

I have a small problem and i was wondering if any of you might have a solution for it.

I'm trying to set up a lipstick camera on a sailing boat and i need a VTR to record the footage being shot.

I can't use a GD1000 clamshell as this is too big and too costly.

So, do any of you have any ideas as to what small DV camcorder i could use as a VTR?

I need it to have AV in/out or firewire, have a Lanc input, a mic input and a headphones out.

    Hi,

Try the sony DCR-HC32, it's small and has AV in but the specs don't tell me about LANC. I have the HC40 and that does have LANC and is small enough you most needs. The 32 seems to be the same style casing. Get down a dealer and take a look at some!!

    Hope this helps

I have the HC22 and it has a LANC socket under a pull off plastic blanking plate above the hand grip (along with an AV out it doesn't mention in the manual).
Sorry to be a newbie - what is a LANC socket for?

Local Appliance Newrok Control (i fink, or some close varient)

It's a sony and canon (& some high panasonics) connection used back in the days of tape to tape editing as a device controller, now most commonly used to connect cabled off camera controls for zoom & focus.

There are some devices that act as a switch, likes of a motion sensor which can send a control signal to a camcorder for security purposes.
