I'm looking for a cheap small laptop or two, mainly for messing about with and testing upgrades etc.

Minimum spec is along the lines of:
    • 2GB RAM
    • 32GB HDD
    • 2-3 USB ports
    • Pretty much any CPU is fine
    • Around two hours of life from the battery
Happy to take a look at anything on offer, but for the old-skool Atom-based netbooks that were popular a few years back I'm looking to spend £30-£40 per device (unless there's something special about them).

    Location: East London

I’ve got an eeepc that can also take a SIM card. Currently running xp. I haven’t fired it up in a while but it used to run for hours and hours. Would be looking for £20 delivered if u are interested. I think it’s 32gb 2gb.

Definitely interested, would you be able confirm the exact model though? I never heard of an EEE PC tha could actually take a SIM card (some had the slots but no actual HDPSA module), and i’d like to confirm the full spec.

Its an eeePC 901 GO (the Go model is the one that has a working sim slot)

    9" screen
    2gb ram
    16gb ssd
    HSUSPA 3.5G
    1.3mb camera
    10/100 ethernet

Just powered it up. Will need to charge battery to let you know how long it will last.
If you are interested I will have to wipe my old data off it which will take a couple days.

Ok, sounds good, let me know how you get along with the battery test and if there’s around 2 hours there we’ll be good to go.

I part charged it (less than 50%) and spend an hour and 15mins deleting all the old apps etc before it gave up. Definitely over 2 hours battery, and likely around 4 or I'd say.

I’ll pass on that thanks mate, sounds like a decent deal but it’s probably a bit over-powered for my purposes.

Hi, I have an Asus T200 Transformer that is a 2-in-1, laptop and tablet, where the screen detaches from the keyboard. Has 4MB RAM installed, a 500gb HDD and a 32Gb eMMC drive, and runs Windows 10 Pro...lovely condition and fully working. Just no longer needed. It was my daughter's for a while before she wanted something larger.

Probably not what I’m looking for as from a quick check these things are not easy to run Linux on, but let me know how much you’re looking for and we’ll take it from there.

I have a Thinkpad x131e if that's of interest. Maybe a bit overpowered for your needs though, think it's an i3 in there.

I thought those had Celerons in them? It’s the right sort of size, so depending on price I could be interested.

The Chromebook version does IIRC, this one is the Full fat W7 Pro version. I'll have a look at the specs tomorrow, not sure off the top of my head. 11" screen on them, so the right sort of size you're looking for.
