We moved into the new house about 6 months ago and finally made a start on my dedicated home cinema room now the Kitchen is about finished

Its not massive and will be about 4.5 x 2.5 m

Plan is to have all my equipment in the storage cupboard under the stairs, and just speakers PJ and screen in the room. Eventually it will be controlled by a Demopad interface but that will probably follow at a later date.

Kit list

Optoma HD33
Denon AVR 1911
PS3
Sony Blu Ray Player
NAS with Apple TV 2 running XBMC
Sky HD
Home made fixed screen- Around 97" Diagonal ..

This is how it began you can see the lovely carpet and the door on the right that will have all the gear behind it.

Also on the first picture this is a large section of boxing in that holds a now redundant Boiler Flue, This is Asbestos .. so that will also be going..

Now the room is all stripped back and the boxing in & flue has gone ..

Plasterer is there today, so more updates soon ..

Sorry for the lack of updates had a manic few days decorating and getting ready for carpets which are now in Plumber was also in installing a new radiator.

I have also sunk in wall box`s to allow speaker wires to exit and ran them behind the skirting boards,

New face plates were also made for speaker exits

Spent a few more hours on it last night,

After much measuring and only a slight error, I managed to get the projector mounted, By some fluke where the bracket needed to go was right on the joist line, so that made the job go a little easier..

Quickly popped Avatar in as well to see how close I was with my screen calculations ( and a quick test run) overall very happy so far , quite a bit of reflection on the surrounding surfaces, but Im not sure the "batcave" look is something I could get away with ..

Yep I was shocked, I had even spent 30 minutes fabricating a reinforcment brace for inside the ceiling above - Waste of bl**dy time lol

It looks good. With regards to the reflection you could just paint the ceiling near to the screen or go with something darker just towards the screen. This is what i did in my room. It is not a total cave but is dark well non-reflective where needed :)

will be watching this with some anticipation. your set up is exactly what im hoping to achieve !!

Firstly on with the cinema made a custom frame up from some straight timber with a hardboard face and then wrapped in blackout curtain material from john Lewis..

Looks good mate. Does the PJ have to go there or could it have gone on the back wall? No criticism, just trying to work out if mine can go behind all the seats etc. ;)

Hi it could have done, but then the projected image would have been to large, so i put it on the ceiling at the correct distance..

Starting the strip out found a few issues from when it was put in 30 years ago ..

IMAG0569.jpg

Some clever person put a nail through the 30 Amp cable I know some tape will sort that out ..

The strip out has continued, there is an RSJ running across the middle of the room which will be covered over and made a feature of , also it will hold the extractor hood and venting..
