Received this e mail from Fut Ent this morning -

    Dear Customers,

As of today we have launched two new websites selling DVDs, CDs and Games. All future purchases will be placed through www.loaded247.com (for Region 1 DVDs) and www.loaded247.co.uk (for Region 2 DVDs).

As the demand for region 2 DVDs became more and more, we decided to create a new company and two new websites to cater for all our customer's needs.

You can log in with your same account details on both sites, your account setup will stay the same as on the Future Entertainment website, there is no need to log in as a new customer.

If you have placed an order recently via www.futureent.com, you can still access the site and your account on-line to check your order status.
Our telephone / fax numbers are all the same as is the returns address for the region 1 DVDs at the moment. The region 2 DVDs returns address is Jersey, Channel Islands. You can find out all the details from the websites www.loaded247.com and www.loaded247.co.uk

Thank you for your patience in reading this e-mail and I hope you enjoy our new websites.

If you have received this e-mail in error, we sincerely apologise as this e-mail is intended for Future Entertainment customers.

    Regards

    Loaded 24 7 Limited / Future Entertainment

Must be something in it since Play did it too. Hmmm.

The channel islands are a tax haven, they don't pay many taxes such as vat, thats why its cheaper. Also it's still the uk, so you can't get stung by customs.

At least thats what my mate tells me, he's from guernsey.

AFAIK stuff posted from the Channel Islands is subject to import duty it's just there is a £18 cut-off below which you don't get charged.

If they send out the DVD's individually not many will be over the £18 no-duty limit.

Spliting the sites I would guess is either to make things easier when buying or in response to some copyright legisation that's been passed when no-one was paying attention.

I see the new websites still have the same terms and conditions, which see them labelled as an agent who only works on your behalf with the supplier; thus enabling them to masquerade as a provider of a service rather than a supplier of goods. Consequently, still trying to skirt their way through UK distance selling laws

Haven't used them myself for quite some time anyway, since their efforts to avoid responsibility for missing discs. Shameful.

Took one whole year and Tradings Standards pressure to get a refund from them for a lost DVD!

    Won't be using them again!

I'm surprised they haven't gone out of business all the bad news i've heard about this company. I will certainly never use them or splash dvd.

Just to clarify - the Channel Islands are part of the EU Customs Union - so no duty on goods shipped from there to the UK.

But they are outside of the EU and hence VAT is chargeable on shipments above £18 in value.

Cheers Duncan I guess I don't get my cigar for that one then.

I can also see why Future Ent are changing their name if the comments about previous experiences are anything to go by. Have to admit I've never registered their existance before, I've been lucky.

I have used FutureEnt in the past, and never had any problems, but haven't used them for a while now. New sites look good.

Does anyone know if they ship US or Canadian R1s?
