    A ferrite ring? Reduces RF interference.

    How have the people who have extende their cables accomodated this box - have you just cut the plug off and extended the cable with plastic connector blocks ?

    If all else fails, you can get ferrite rings from Maplins or similar.

    I haven't needed to but if I did then either I'd just ignore the loss of the core .. I'm not at all sure it's actually useful ;) .. or else do as you suggest and use an in-line cable joiner.
