Slingbox solo + sky hd to rented flat

Hi,

Currently living with my parents where I (personally) have a SKY HD box and (pay for my own) subscription. I'm getting married this Saturday and unfortuneatly the flat we were due to buy has lease issues and we have pulled out.

So now I will be renting a flat for 6 months with no sky (or virgin media) access. We intend to purchase another flat as soon as possible.

Is it possible to use a slingbox solo to stream my sky subscription (at my parents) over the net to my flat and watch via my htpc on my tv.

If yes whats the quality like? (realise it wont be in hd)?

Do i need minimum upload/download speeds at parents/flat?

Will my sky hd box still function as usual i.e record 2nd series of burn notice?

Can you access your saved shows via the stream?

Sorry for all questions but im amazingly stressed!

Thanks,

Tom

Quality depends on upstream speed.

I was originally watching remotely at 300kbps which was OK for films but a bit frustrating for sport.

Now at 650kbps and even sport is enjoyable to watch. Sky tell me they are doubling my upstream again to 1.3Mbps so I'm looking forward to that...hasn't happened yet though :(

I did a speed test and was hitting 600kbps on my laptop for upload. So through a wired connect to modem/router i would anticpate similar speeds (if not better).

Is there much of an secondry markt for these as once I leave rented accomodation I doubt i will have much use for it?
