    Hi,

Can somebody recommend me a slimline receiver that takes up as little room as possible. I am a total novice in these things. My budget is around £200. Any advice on best places to buy ex-display or ex-demo will be appreciated as my budget is very limited.

    thanks in advance.

There's a review of the STRDB900 on this very site:

Looks like a few shortcuts have been made to accomodate the "slimness" of the unit (I've no experience of the model though). It might be worth checking out a demo.

Like already recommended, the CA Azur 540R comes highly regarded although slightly over budget.

Pioneer do a range of slimline receivers. They have, however, fairly limited connectivity. Three SCART(2 RGB) inputs for audio/video,one SCART output (RGB), 3 Digital audio inputs (2 optical, one coax) plus front panel analogue phonos. I have the VSX C301 with an XBOX,DVD Player and VCR plugged in. This was £139 from Richers.

    EDIT:

Oops!, just realised you're not after an AV receiver. Sorry!
