I am looking to buy either the PWD7 or PWD8.

I have a sony surround system with silver speakers. The missus hates them, and refuses to have them wall mounted, which isn;t a problem in itself. However I am sinking all wires into the wall, and having the plasma wall mounted. I therefore have an issue with the centre speaker.

To get aroundit I suggested a slimeline centre speaker (i pictured a long slim speaker) that could be mounted below the plasma. SWMBO quite liked the idea, but having searched I can't really find anything suitable.

Any ideas of a nice centre speaker that would look good below a plasma?

    Strees,
Time to think completely out of the box? No wall mounted side /rear speakers, no chasing cables....

Never thought I would be recommending this gizmo, but I saw it at the Bristol show earlier this year and was impressed - lots of WAF from what I could see. It needs a decent sub though.

Hmmm ... interesting. Still like my seperate 5.1 speakers but it is a possibility. The only other option is a new set of 5.1 speakers which won't be cheap.

What sort of price can you pick them up for?

I've got a couple of threads on the speaker forum asking the same question.

I'm currently pretty much sold on the Monitor Audio R225 range - they come in black, silver and white (all shiny mind). Cost about £200 each.

An alternative I was looking at was the Canton CD50 - there is a huge powerbuy type thread on here about their range.

I seem to remeber a thread about Costco selling them for significanly less than that, indeed at less than the UK trade price.

Audica do a small centre speaker, or a wider one with left, centre and right all-in-one.

Very stylish, silver or black, and curved to look slimline.

Mission and Paradigm both have exactly what you need. The new Paradigm Cinema series is an exceptional range for the money, Missions are great for the job but we're moving over to Paradigm for the better build and sound.

Complete Cinema CT110 system (dipole surrounds, three flat speakers for the front, Paradigm sub) does have a list price of £800 but you can get just the front 3 speakers individually (list price of £99 for centre and £199 for left+right).

Another option if you've really gotta keep budget down but don't mind a bit of handy work would be to get hold of some budget in-wall speakers and bury them left, right and below/above the plasma. Or even bury the Sonys somehow.
