I'm looking for some pointers to a half decent slim speaker to use as my centre. I want to fit it in the space between the top of my stand and the bottom of my Panasonic plasma, a depth of approx. 75mm (or 3 inches in old units!!).

It will replace a centre Egg and needs to be of a similar quality to this.

    Any pointers appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    mrv,

I've asked this question many times on this forum and never got any definitive answers...

Think I narrowed it down to B&W VM1 or some others I demoed from 'Boston'. Other than that I can't be of much help I'm afraid. I still plan to get a slim centre myself one day, but am just about to move house, so won't do it just yet.

    Good luck.

Can you move the plasma? Sounds like someone didn't "measure twice, drill once!" :nono: ;)

    Nobber,

Not quite the problem - no holes drilled. The plasma's on the pedestal stand on a glass unit. I'm either making a custom stand in place of the Pansonic version or fitting a slim speaker. It's just that I would like the speaker to sit between the bottom of the panel and the top of the glass unit.

Many people are worried about messing up the front soundstage by not using matching speakers (me included). However I assume you are using Kef 5.1 eggs, so finding a better centre won't be hard (sorry, I dislike the Eggs). Mission M7C1 perhaps? Otherwise sell the Eggs and maybe upgrade to full matching B&W VM1 setup?

How deep is the Linn Centrik then? I thought it was quite a big speaker?
