Bit of a random one, and not such a huge issue, but I recently bought a pair of 5M HDMI cables (means I have more placement flexibility).

However, when loading facebook on the TV, there are faint, random yellow dots on the grey comment boxes. There were also odd, but not intrusive, bands when watching a movie with solid greys (Hunchback of Notre Dame).

Is this a common issue with budget long-ish cables? The problem did go away when I enforced system-wide 24Hz (less data>less distortion maybe?), but unfortunately this is not possible on PS3 Netflix (afaik).

Would I see improvement with a more expensive cable?

Do you have a shorter HDMI cable to hand you can try out to 'prove' this is a cable and not a TV settings issue?
