This is probably the first SD match I've watched since I've had Sky HD.

Have I become a HD "snob" or is there something particularly awful with the SD feed from Portugal as it looks truly abysmal to me?

It is a very bad feed by the looks of it, pixilation all over the place. Add to the fact that it has been slighty cropped, zoomed and stretched by Sky themselves to create their weird 16:9 substitute. So much for it being in HD!

Lol! I know what you mean.
I recorded the 1st half of the Arsenal game, but somehow ended up recording it in SD, and it looked truly horrible.
Fortunately now caught up and watching it live in HD

Not a snob - just like me probably - you find it difficult to watch anything in SD anymore over a long period of time - its ok for 30 mins at 10 feet or so. The feed is awful but not as bad as the rugby feed the other day (on ITV) which was by far the worst SD picture I have yet seen on my LCD.t

More HD asap - well done C4 and ITV (spring) and more BBC (November). Soon (ish) I won't have to put up with any SD.

Sky seem not to be claiming it is HD, though it is on an HD channel their logo just says 'Sports' the HD bit is missing, unlike the Arsenal game.

The EPG "claims" it was in HD but that's besides the point as I was referring to the poor SD broadcast anyway.

I just had a look at BBC4, 'The Protestant Revolution' though SD the brief moment I saw of it, the pq was lovely.

Sound also said "DD 5.1", but only came through front L&R speakers.

The in studio bit which started at 6pm was available in HD, so the EPG said HD. However, the actual game which was still part of the same programme that started at 6pm was not in HD. Sky never put the HD bit in the Sky Sports banner across the top, so they got that bit right. Perhaps the build up and match should had been two different programmes to show the EPG correctly?

Either way, who saw that woman at the start explain which game was on which channel, HD, Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports 2, Sky One HD, Interactive, 8 screen, 4 screen etc. Well done to Sky for organsing all the footage and showing HD where they could. I noticed that the womans purple trouser suit she had on was so tight you could see here, ahem, camels toe..... slightly off putting on a big screen!

I thought it wasn't good either but i've seen far worse, you should have seen VK Vetra v Blackburn ( i'm a Rovers Fan ) from Lithuania TV on Setanta sports a few weeks ago it made last nights game look incredible !

As I said in another post I think feeds from away games vary on the countrys TV technology for instance the Real Madrid ( My 2nd team ;)! ) game last night looked very good, although it wasn't in HD.

Its still better than the rubbish ITV showed on Tuesday night. The Liverpool game was just a blur of red and blue and the grass was so bright green that it looked fake. It certainly makes you realise how good the HD football is when you watch that crap

I switched from HD to 402 SS2 SD. Picture was same but sound was surround during the match. switched back for HD studio. Souness's wrinkles look deeper in HD

I assumed this match wasn't Hd as the quality was so poor. The studio looked good but the match didn't. Things like this don't help to justify the extra tenner a month.
Depends how much HD you watch I suppose, but I find myself trying to watch something on HD channels just to make the extra money seem worthwhile, which I don't really like.

That's the point. The "match" wasn't in HD but the studio parts were hence the fact the entire broadcast was stated as HD was misleading by Sky.
