Sky's HD Digibox

Hi folks, I'm thinking about getting Sky+ installed over the next few weeks, but am wondering how things will work once Sky launches its HD service next year..

Eg, if I were to instead get Sky HD next year (with box and dish intalled), would that Sky HD box give me access to both the current Sky Digital (SD channels) and also the forthcoming HD channels through the same box?

Or are we likely to see a set up where Sky+ and SkyHD will need separate digiboxes.. if so, does that mean you will have to be a subscriber to Sky / Sky+ to be able to get SkyHD ?

I'm thinking here abt the advertising in the papers once SkyHD is launched - what will be the option for a new subscriber? will they have to get two digiboxes ?

Im certain it will require a new box and this would replace your old one
and im pretty sure there will be a monthly charge for the HD stuff!

You will need a HD Sky+ digibox to get HD from Sky, but the HD digibox will receive SD programmes too. It will be a subscription service, with at least 6 HD channels at the launch in February 2006. Not many other details have yet been released.

It's a widely speculated date. Nobody but Sky knows for sure, and they're not telling, so far.

Sky's own HD promo site is the only "official" info out there so far. But Sky have started doing demos at the trade shows, so things are starting to look promising...

Sky train their staff on a "need to know" basis. If there has been no firm date for the launch decided, then it's pointless asking any of their reps, because they will know as much as you do.
