i wish to connect the following system as a daisy chain:

(sky+) > (VCR -philips vr530) > (DVDR-Panasonic e50) > (TV-RGB)

all scart leads are 21pin connected, and the final result (in theory!) is RGB signal from the sky box to the tv input. I just want to check that the vcr output is in fact RGB and would this system work - so has anybody any ideas !?

(sky+) > (VCR -philips vr530) > (DVDR-Panasonic e50) > (TV-RGB)

my plans are :

a) copy from sky+ hdd to dvdr or vcr
b) copy vcr tapes to dvdr

hope this helps

This is the normal set up;

Sky+ TV out to DVDR AV2
DVDR AV1 to TV AV1
DVDR AV1 - RGB
DVDR AV2 - RGB
AV2 connection - Normal

Sky+ VCR to VCR

Also a good idea is Sky+ S-Video to TV AV2 provided it will accept an S-Video signal.

This will allow a and b as above.

Did you mean, will your VCR pass through the RGB signal from Sky+ to TV? A lot will have pass through but there is no definitive answer - try it and see. If your DVDR is set to AV2 RGB in and the VCR does not pass through the signal, then you would only record sound and a blank picture. If it records both then your VCR is passing through RGB.

Can anyone tell me what is the least number of scart leads that can be used when daisy chaining a dvdr-vcr-skybox & tv, using RGB connections?
Any answers gratefully received!
Thanks in advance.

3 essential, although 4 could be necessary to allow watching of Sky whilst recording terrestial channels.

Thanks jem. I'm using four, so I'll have to experiment.

many thanks jem, this works !

so when recording video to DVDR, i change DVDR AV2 to 'video'. And of course, i change AV2 back to 'RGB', when recording SKY+ to DVDR.

(you were right the VCR signal was composite after all and not RGB, hence the switching as described above)

Thanks again jem. I tried your system and yes, it does work.
