Skyfall Cinema Review

But

he couldn't just kill him because he needed to ask about his employers. Yes, he could have stopped the assassination, and but then we wouldn't have got a funky fist fight using a sniper rifle and an introduction to the sultry siren in the other building :smashin:
No need to
kill him just stop him earlier. As not stoping the kill so as to introducing him to the sultry siren was just illogical story telling to further a plot.

I fell out of love with the Bond genre a long time ago, but I thought I'd give this a try. My goodness! it's far too long. There was a lull in the middle that was so drawn out. You could slice out 30-45 minutes and tighten the whole thing up to make it a far better movie.

Isn't a lot of cinema illogical when viewed in the cold light of day....half the battle of writing a screenplay is to put ideas down on paper that may well be illogical or appear contrived but which, during the excitement of the film, and within the confines of the logic/reality of the film seem perfectly normal?

Personally I thought the scene worked logically within the confines of the film.
Perhaps in "real-life" it would worked differently and the killer would have been put down with a leg shot earlier on. For all we know, Bond was just interested to see what he was up to - collateral damage which is minor compared to the national security and agents of the organisation he has sworn to protect?

Anyway, I am not going to try and justify it to you, we could go round and round on this all day :smashin: but it is fun to talk about films in this way.

As I said, perhaps not being a "fan" of bond in a filmic or literary sense (I just watch the films for the crack, not to think too deeply about whether this performance mirrors the books or the previous films - I don't care, I am just there to be entertained) means I have a very different take on what he should or shouldn't do?

Be boring if we were all the same!;)

Well...I've now seen the film twice and I still dislike it a lot. Having recently watched all the other Bond movies I just couldnt take to this at all. I really enjoyed Casino Royale, thought Quantum Of Solace was mediocre but this was for me utterly terrible as a Bond film.

Let me try and elaborate. I like Daniel Craig as Bond think he is as good as Connery and Dalton etc, the first 20-30 mins before the music kicks in is simply classic Bond brilliant loved every second of it, then it all for me goes down hill.

For me Bond should be suave, sophisticated and a womaniser, then there should be the gadgets, the villains totally over the top schemes to rule the world, destroy the world or start WW3 etc

The supposedly oh so evil, scary and terrible villain in the film turns out to be a gay man with a grudge against M..sorry didn't work at all for me.

all in all this for me is possibly the worst Bond film out of them all and that's saying something based on how hammy some of the early ones were.

Im really disappointed tbh after all the hype and publicity I was expecting more and was utterly and sadly let down by it.

So you thought that say Octopussy is better than this...or A View To A Kill?
Each to their own I suppose...but the worst Bond ever...? Come on...

Yes but they are Bond films, for me Skyfall was a poor Bourne film with stylised fight sequences it just didn't work. But as I said it's my opinion. I know the media loved it I just didn't.

They were Bond films yes - but they couldn't have been further from Ian Flemings creation if they had set it on the moon!
Hold on! Didn't they mess that one up as well?:)

The Bourne comparison was done to death with CR and QOS...this was nothing like a Bourne film - at least the camera was under full control the whole way through. This was less Bourne than The Bourne Legacy was and that was a pile of doo doo!

The supposedly oh so evil, scary and terrible villain in the film turns out to be someone with a grudge against M (my edit, the sexuality was neither here nor there for me)

I'm kinda of this opinion also. What was the plot about? "I'm going to release the confidential info from this stolen hard drive unless... ". There was no 'unless'/demand! What was the baddie going to do once M was dealt with, and with all the awesome computing power and knowledge?

I get and appreciate the character development but it felt like another "transition" film - when does DC get to rock out and have some fun in the role?

And as for going all McGyvver (sorry if spelt wrong)... Bond is all about quick, cute, thinking and reaction - and then dealing with the consequences, not being clever in advance planning!

I need to see again - but am a bit deflated about it at the moment...

If you want 'Classic' Bond watch Sean. if you want the real bond READ the books.
And if you like Carry On movies - watch the Moore efforts.

I loved the movie and I must admit that I am a great fan of bond movies, so I cannot dislike any movies from this franchise, but I will say by my heart that not only me, but my friends have enjoyed this as well. So, I can say confidently that it was a good movie.
