I currently have the standard sky digital box and would like to upgrade to sky+. If I purchase a box independently of Sky will it work fully? Also will I be able to use my current Sky box in another room or do sky have to activate this function?

You can do the Sky+ install yourself and then ring Sky to make the necessary upgrades to your Sky package. If you install a quad LNB and the necessary cabling, you could use your extra box but you'd need to get an additional card.

What are the required upgrades to my sky package in order that sky+ can be received?

Depending on your current package, you may be entitled to Sky+ free or you may have to pay £10 per month. Either way, you'll to talk to Sky as they need to activate the '+' features of the box.

I have a full subscription at the minute so I think that I will get Sky+ free. With regards to the extra card for the multi room what do the normally charge? is this the £10 per month?

If you have the full package then Sky+ will be free. A 'mirror' card for the multio room sub will be £10 per month.
