There are 2 things that I really wish Sky would add to the Sky + box:
    :lease:
    1) Delete confirmation. How many times have you pressed that yellow button and said S**T, wrong one!

    2) PDC. They have it on VCR's why do I have to watch up to 5 mins of rubbish before my program starts, and sometimes miss the end!

Well I agree with option 1. I to have been "trigger" happy with the yellow button!

As for other wishes, a 30 second fast forward button to get past the adverts

Blu Ray - I've done this too! Annoying, isn't it?!

My solution is to put a keep on ALL your recordings as soon as you've done them. This way, you do get a 'delete confirmation'.

    Hope this helps!

    Longer scedules
    Delete confirmation
One button touch to get to Sky+ Planner

    How about:
    - Series links that dont just vanish!
    - Proper detail about why the box failed to make a recording you told it to
    - More detail about why a program failed recording half way through
    - a box that doesn't crash
    - series links for all the programs
    - Being able to use the EPG while a program is paused
    - facilities to alter the compression (to save disk space if needed)
    - control of what is deleted and when, not just what/when the box feels like it

it depends really. i read all the discussions about the million problems with Sky+ and assumed that if i didn't change the hard drive i'd escape the majority of them. i haven't touched the innards of the box and its still buggy as hell. the software really is lacking, even though the hardware is quite good.
what worries me most is if sky try to fix the problems, because every time they try to fix something they end up making it worse!

So do they update it then?

With all there money surely they could just buy the TiVO software and combine them to make th best of both worlds

They do 'over air' updates fairly often. One recent one was to allow recordings of two things at the same time.

I'd quite like them to have a network port in the back of the box so you could archive off programmes to a PC, even if you couldn't watch them on a PC so that you had to copy them back to the Sky+ box to watch them it would save having to delete stuff all the time.

What would be nice is if I could pick a set/group of programmes to be replayed one after the other continuously so I can burn them to my dvd recorder without having to play/record 1 at a time!!
Now hopefully someone will post how this can be done and make me look daft!!
    Cheers..Andrew
PS For all the bugs/problems (we had to have 4 machines on original installation to get a working one!!) I still think it's a bloody great piece of kit:)

    Prepare to look daft...

    Go into Sky+ planner.
Highlight the programme you wish to record.
Hit the 'Copy' button (designated on one of the fastext colours).
Repeat the above for each programme you want to put in the sequence.
When you have completed your list, highlight any one of the programmes marked for copy, then hit 'Select'.
Those items you've marked for copy will now play in a line.

    Works a treat.

Note hitting any buttons on the SKY remote, whilst your programmes are playing, causes the playing of the whole sequence to stop.

    Oh, and by the way,

    :rtfm:

    Hi Lost Cause,
Many thanks for that...we were trying to find the manual the other weekend but as all things that are put away under the stairs, it had mysteriously dissapeared :(
I'd hoped that it would have been possible and posted the above with tongue in cheek.
Cheers for taking the time to reply,
    Andrew

PS Took me a few minutes to suss the RTFM meaning.....Ha Ha:)

for me a killer app would be the ability to edit any recorded programs, to remove unwanted rubbish from the recording, ie ads or any padding.

I can think of countless improvements to Sky+ but the two things about it that irritate me the most (on the occasions when it is actually working to specification) are:

    1) The inability to switch subtitles on and off with a simple button press.

    2) The way the +/- channel buttons zap you out of a live-pause playback without asking you whether you really mean it, and lose the buffer.
