    I've just moved from NTL to Sky but I'm having some trouble getting the VCR to output in widescreen.

    In the Sky picture setup screen I've set both outputs to 16:9 and the picture is RGB.

    I'm pretty sure I'm using fully wired SCART leads as I used the same setup for NTL and everything worked fine in widescreen.

    The VCR and TV are both JVC. To summarise what I've tried:

    Sky (TV output) -> TV - 16:9

    Sky (VCR output) -> VCR -> TV - 4:3

    Sky (VCR output) -> TV - 4:3

    Sky (TV output) -> VCR -> TV - 4:3

    Note that the 4:3 pictures look like a widescreen picture squeezed into 4:3 rather than a 4:3 cutout from a 16:9 image.

    Please reply if you've got any ideas what the problem might be.

    Unlike NTL ,Sky doesn't output a Line 23 WS signal which VCRs need to output a WS picture.

    Thanks for your reply.

    I have to say I'm a bit annoyed. All the time I had NTL I kept hearing how Sky was better.

    I did a search on the forums and found someone say autoview gets round this so I'll give that a go.

    Do you know if DVD/hard drive recorders have the same problem?

    I was looking for an excuse to buy one anyway!
