    Hi

Any ideas on what the problems is?

Power up, drive spins up, red power LED comes on for about 5 secs then goes off. Hard disc continues spinning and RF loopthru works.

I've tried replacing the drive, get exactly the same problem.

I've checked the +12vdc, +5vdc and their okay.

Same prob with all input/output disconnected.

Anyone know what the PSU outputs on the 19 pin ribbon connector to the mainboard are?

    TIA
    Roy

I think he's done that...assuming that he meant hard drive in "I've tried replacing the drive, get exactly the same problem"

    yep,

twas the first thing I thought of, still the same.

The question is wether to repair (£80 total from MCES) or replace with Pace V2 box (simply digital total £152).

Sky stuff is the most unreliable imo, two digiboxes and a sky+ dead over the past 5 yrs :-(

    Hi

If you put the original hard drive back in and call sky, they willoffer to send out an engineer to fix the box for £65. If he cannot fix the box he will replace it for a new v2 box. The same thing happened to me and the engineer tried the on/off button on the remote once then swapped the unit.

Thanks, I didn't know this. I suppose the downside is I could end up with an Amstrad box

Still, since I also have and old duff 40GB I can stuff it with I reckon it's worth a try :p

    Thanks guys
