    hi all,
just put a maxtor 120gb drive in my v1 box, reset and done "housekeeping"just tested by recording something on mtv, played it back all ok,but in sky planner it says i only have 26%free space.i understand it wont give me accurate readings as it thinks its still got the standard 40gb unit inside.just wondering what anyone elses planners read.when i delete the recording so hd is empty how do i get into it to find out if it tells me its 100% free.

    cheers

It will never tell you it is 100% free.

As you record things, the free space will go down to 0% and say disk full, then it will jump from disk full to 34% or something, then it will go down again to 0 repeat the disk full stuff until it is finally full.

the sky+ box will interpret each 40gb block as 33% (approx), giving 3 blocks of 40gb equalling 40+40+40=120gb.

so the first block will say 26% remaining, but the total disk space available will be more like 26% + 33% + 33% = 92% of your 120gb disk.

Have not done this for myself yet, so this is second hand info. But the bar graph is correct even if the number isn't

Ridcully - Your statement is indeed correct and it is the easiest way to see how full the disk is.

Indeed the graph does apear to give a more accurate representation (V2 120gig Samsung) although 30 min programs are such a little line on the graph you can hardly see them! The % counter reads similar to DS1036s - nonsense.
