Regular Sky users have had this feature for a while now and at last I had the update overnight meaning I can now change the aspect ratio to 4:3L in the bedroom. About time.

Don't think I'll be using the messaging service though.

How do I get the 2nd location picture aspect to work? I've changed it to 4:3L and can't see any difference through either RF socket or either Scart socket, it always outputs the main picture format, 16:9. Switching the RF power on through the service menu had no noticeable effect on the RF signals. 4:3 is the same, i.e. ignored.
Is there a step I'm missing? Or have I just got a dodgy (v2) box?

Nothing yet, it is intended for when SKY have services which are able to send information to specific subscribers.

It only works if you are using the TVLink system.
Switch SKY+ on via the TVlink and it will set the ratio to the 2nd location setting. Switch the SKY+ on from the main panel (direct or remote) and it's selects the primary picture ratio.

This feature on both SKY+ and a standard digibox is just a convienence for subscribers with the TVlink and two different ratio TV's.

That would explain it. How annoying. Well, as my remote control extender's been playing up recently anyway I suppose I'd better investigate the TVLink system. Cheers.

I use the TV link and it switches aspect perfectly since todays update. It changes both over though, i.e. if I use the kitchen remote to switch channels then my 4:3L is active for the kitchen and the TV in the living room switches as well. digital spy thread has some detail. This is no problem in this house but I'm sure it'll bug some users. I have to say it was an update that I had thought of as it was a pain changing it through settings each time I wanted to watch anything for more than a few minutes in the kitchen.
