I have managed to catch up with my backlog of programs on sky+ and watch them all, and there are now no programs stored on the hard drive. But if i record something that for example takes up 2% of my drive, sky+ is showing that 69% is available, so the admin is taking up 29%, far too much space, as I am sure that I read that it normally only uses about 9%.

So can I do a re-boot, or a re-format on the drive, or should I ring up sky and see what they say?

thanks in advance for any help.

you should try a planner rebuild before anything else. You can do this by pressing services, then 4 then 0 (appears to do nothing) then 1 then select. This should hopefully reset it back to new. Otherwise you can do a complete reset (which removes everything on the box), setting it back like an out of the box sky+.
